Nivin Pauly - Sidhartha Siva team's political drama Sakhavu, which was released on April 15 in over 190 theaters across India, took a very good opening. Reportedly, Sakhavu becomes the biggest opener for Nivin Pauly with a gross collection of 2.48 Crores. However, the official collection report from producers is awaited. Reportedly, extra midnight shows have been added in many centers. The movie registered an above 96 percent occupancy on the opening day at Cochin multiplexes and collected over 11 lakhs from there. Mammootty’s 'The Great Father' is the biggest hit of 2017

The Mammootty starrer, The Great Father has turned out to be the biggest hit this year till date. The film, released on March 30th in 202 screens with 958 shows, has crossed the Rs. 50 crore mark and is still marching ahead at the box office. Directed by Haneef Adeni, the film has been produced by Prithviraj Sukumaran, Santosh Sivan, Arya and Shaji Nadesan under the banner August Cinema. While Mammootty plays the lead role in the film, it also has Arya, Sneha, Anikha, Malavika Mohanan, Miya George, Kalabhavan Shajon, Santhosh Keezhatoor and I.M Vijayan in the star cast. Confusions, rather than revelations, are awaiting the audience as Lal Jose opens the book of revelations. Confusion on what the filmmaker was aiming at – a typical superstar movie? A campus movie? A thriller? Or a mish-mash of it all to make some noise during the festival season? Confusion, on why the lead character is behaving the way he does, towards the end. What is served up as an explanation, a back story from his younger days, only adds to the confusion. Even the college campus, where much of the action happens in Velipadinte Pusthakam, has a confused existence.
