Baahubali 2 box office collection day 1: With Rs 100 cr opening day

The film collected around Rs 805 crore in India, while it collected Rs 200 crore overseas, bringing the total figure to Rs 1,005 crore. Velai Illa Pattadhaari 2 aka VIP2 was one of the most awaited movies of the year. The sequel to Velai Illa Pattadhaari, this film has Dhanush, Amala Paul, Samuthirakani and Vivekh reprising their roles in addition to Kajol making a comeback in Kollywood after almost two decades. Directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth and penned by Dhanush himself, the film is all about Raghuvaran and how he deals with unemployment. The plot then proceeds to build around Raghuvaran's company and him locking horns with corporate honcho of sorts, Vasundhara. All of this was already known before. It was, however, interesting to see how all of this translated on the silver screen. Story: The most important factor of any sequel is the continuity. Vellimoonga director Jibu Jacob’s Munthirivallikal Thalirkumbol has a down-to-earth protagonist – a panchayat secretary named Ullahanan (Mohanlal) who is so bogged down by the daily grind that he is oblivious to extract happiness out of his life. However, a college reunion takes him back to a few decades, wanting him to fall in love again. And as he does, he finds excitement and renewed vigour to enjoy everything he took for granted in his life – his wife, children, friends and job. Mohanlal does a 180 degree after his previous release Pulimurugan with this movie, showing how versatile he can be. Baahubali 2’s 6th Week Box Office Collections – India & Overseas Update

S.S. Rajamouli's Baahubali 2 (Hindi) has set huge benchmarks at the box office. Despite new releases, the magnum opus has managed to rake in 4.75 crores in its 6th week at the domestic market. The film's Hindi version currently stands with a grand total of 505.93 crores nett in India. Baahubali 2 Hindi should end its theatrical run around 510 crores at the box office. Apart from becoming the highest grosser of all time, Baahubali 2 (Hindi) has also become the most profitable film of the year. Acquired at the cost of 90 crores (including 10 crores on P and A), the film has made a whopping profit of 415.93 crores, which takes its profit percentage to 462.14%. The film has set a huge benchmark at the box office with 728.53 crores gross (505.93 crores) collection solely from Hindi version, whereas 625.76 crores gross in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam versions.
